Freezing Resale Pays Off: Gracie Abrams Concert

Standing in line, the cold was sinking in. Numb feet and cold hands, but it was all worth it.

Finding tickets to see Gracie Abrams on 2/15/2022 was not an easy feat. Tickets had sold out the first day, but I was out there scouring the internet trying to find a good deal. Ideally, I would’ve gone to the Valentine’s Day show, but alas school schedules do not care about your concert plans.

Tuesday it was. Stubhub, TickPick, SeatGeek, I had tried every avenue, every site, every platform, but tickets were all coming out to over $80. I’m a college student with bills to pay. I have my limits. So I went back to Twitter and managed to find a ticket that I was willing to pay the price of. This was my first time buying resale and it was completely worth it.

There I was chilling on the cold ground, half paying attention to my online class, when Gracie Abrams appeared. Like magic, there she was standing by the doors. With a hi and a wave, she said she was running late for soundcheck, but would try to come back out to say hi. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but that moment was completely worth it in and of itself. Freezing in the cold never felt so good.

Four hours later, after the VIPs had gone in, I was the first GA to enter the venue. Yes, I pride myself on being the psycho that shows up ridiculously early just to be the first one in. Hey, it pays off. I was 3 rows away from the stage. The only people closer were the VIPs and they paid $75 to be there.

Gracie Abrams is the most genuine artist I have seen to date. Watching her onstage, you can clearly see how much appreciates her fans. Far left to far right, from way back to up high, Gracie made sure to connect with all areas of the crowd. People even brought along gifts and stuff that Gracie took. She gives us the gift of performance, the crowd gives her gifts of beaded bracelets and notes. It’s give and take, people. Mutual relationships.

The fan interactions were very sweet to watch. It’s crazy to me that one second of hand holding or eye contact will make a person’s year. It’s the small moments that make concerts so special.

A mix of her latest album This is what it Feels Like, her album Minor, and a few singles, Gracie sang 17 songs total. Each one was phenomenal. Gracie doesn’t just sing her songs. She pours the emotions into them. I teared up hearing Camden live. Impressive, considering that I’m dead inside.

It’s been a week since this concert and I’m still not over it. I made eye contact with Gracie Abrams. I was perceived. I will never get over that #sorrynotsorry. If you don’t know Gracie Abrams, you should. Seriously, go listen to her right now.
