Galantis’s Midsommar Eve Was a Night to Remember

This week, Galantis presented "Midsommar Eve" at the Brooklyn Mirage for the third year in a row, and it was once again in high demand.

Midsommar Eve isn’t just a night of incredible music but also one of community. Fans embraced the theme, dressing in flowery attire. Looking around the venue, I saw flower crowns on many heads, glitter-dusted bodies, and lots of Galantis merch, from hats to shirts to hand fans. A photo op awaited fans as they entered the venue, with lines stretching as they waited to take their photo in front of the lit-up flower wall. The excitement and anticipation were palpable as people mingled and enjoyed the pre-show ambiance.

With perfect summer weather, the event kicked off with some house music from Akki. The warm beats set the tone for the night, getting everyone in the mood to dance. DJ duo and vocalists Z3lla (Julia “Juj” Seeley and Kiana Tebyani), took over next. Their energetic set seamlessly blended popular tracks with unique twists, keeping the energy high and the crowd moving. The duo is one to watch.

As the sun set over Brooklyn, indie electric duo Forester (David Parris and Xander Carlson) took the stage. Playing for over an hour, Forester mixed in originals with their set. People were amazed to see that Carlson was singing live and the duo gained some appreciation for that. After their phenomenal set, there was a brief pause in the music for the first time in over three hours to prep the stage for Galantis. By this time, Brooklyn Mirage was packed with fans eagerly awaiting the headliner's set.

As the intro began to play, cheers filled the venue as Christian Karlsson took the stage. Starting immediately with their hit song "Runaway," the crowd went wild. The stage production was a feast for the eyes with flowers filling the DJ platform, the music was perfectly complemented by synchronized lights and visuals.

Galantis’ set was filled with different genres, from house to techno to bass, but every moment had the crowd dancing. The seamless transitions between tracks and genres kept the energy levels high throughout the night. In a touching moment, Galantis asked the crowd to put up their phone lights in tribute to Avicii. The place was luminous as Galantis remarked that he hoped Avicii was smiling down on the crowd. It was a poignant reminder of Avicii's impact and the love people have for him.

In addition to the long-awaited RX album this year, Galantis recently released a single with Arden Jones and Dillon Francis. As a special treat, Galantis brought Jones on stage to perform “Pretty Low.” Despite the song being released just last week, the crowd knew all the words.
