Live: Knox Is Good At Being Alone in NYC

Nashville-based artist Knox defies genres, seamlessly weaving through genres from R&B to pop-punk, hip-hop to rock, and crafting a distinctive sound that is uniquely his own.

Originally from Ohio, Knox relocated to Nashville in 2019 to chase a music career. Amid the challenges presented by COVID-19, Knox refined his musical prowess and captured the attention of notable figures in the Nashville music scene. Working with John Harvie and teaming up with Spencer Jordan from The Band Camino, Knox immersed himself in the songwriting process, refining his skills.

In 2021, Knox stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut solo track, "Sneakers," which quickly gained viral traction on TikTok. While exuding pop-punk vibes, Knox infused the track with his unique stylistic touches. The pop-centric, high-energy chorus, complemented by Knox's captivating vocals, became an infectious earworm, underscored by the dynamic interplay of guitars and drums.  "But I don’t really need to see what’s under that T-shirt, I could but I gotta fuck with me first."

Riding the momentum of his success, Knox released his debut EP How To Lose A Girl in 7 Songs earlier this year. The collection of tracks spans various genres, from pop-punk to EDM, to hip-hop, and pop. True to its title, Knox documents how to lose a girl over seven bold and brutally honest songs. Fueled by passion, the result is a collection of irresistible, catchy, and cathartic tunes.

2023 saw another 7-track EP from Knox titled I’m So Good At Being Alone? released this past October. Demonstrating a continuous evolution of his sound, Knox delves into themes of love and loss across the EP. Featuring collaborations with Charlotte Sands and Nightly, Knox takes this EP to new heights.

Currently on tour with Nightly, Knox brings his music to life on stage. Witnessing his performance at NYC's Racket, the red-haired artist exudes pure joy. From bounding onto the stage with his band to leaving it, Knox poured his heart into every moment.

Kicking off his set with the energetic "Man Down," Knox engaged the audience from the start, and every song in his setlist had the crowd singing along. Playing an unreleased gem, "Girl On The Internet," Knox was surprised to find fans already familiar with the lyrics, explaining that they had discovered the song through YouTube performances.

Being in NYC, Knox had to perform his song “NYC.” Knox created a magical atmosphere for the song about the iconic city by getting everybody from the front row to the back of the balconies to put up their phone lights. “Yeah, I just need to find a place to rewind/Though I should fly to New York tonight.”

Knox had proven himself an energetic performer, lighting up the stage with his presence, incredible vocals, and exhilarating music.
