Two Door Cinema Club Rocks NYC

Hailing from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club has firmly established itself as a global force in the alternative music scene. Formed in 2007 by the trio of Alex Trimble (vocals, guitar), Kevin Baird (bass), and Sam Halliday (guitar), the band has carved a distinct path with their infectious energy and signature sound.

Fast forward over a decade and a half, their musical journey has been marked by the release of a handful of albums, several EPs, and a multitude of singles. While each album has its own unique flavor, Two Door Cinema Club's positive vibes remain constant. Characterized by jangly, melodic guitars, danceable beats, and layered synths, their music is an irresistible soundscape that consistently uplifts listeners.

Last Thursday, the band brought their vibrant energy to New York City, gracing the stage at Terminal 5. From the outset, the room was filled with infectious energy. Joywave, an indie rock band from Rochester, opened the night, setting the mood with frontman Daniel Armbruster's electrifying stage presence and engaging interaction with the crowd.

Excited cheers broke out as TDCC took the stage and the opening notes of their latest single, “Sure Enough,” rang out. Swiftly following was the infectious rhythm of their hit track “I Can Talk,” a timeless anthem from their iconic 2010 album Tourist History. The familiar refrain of “Oh oh ohs” ignited the audience, who eagerly joined in, creating a moment of collective euphoria. Knowing their audience, the setlist for the night was absolute perfection. It featured a well-balanced mix of their latest tracks from Keep on Smiling alongside cherished classics from their earlier albums.

Scattered throughout the venue were subtle yet meaningful tributes - from worn tour shirts and an Irish flag waving proudly from the balcony to a lone foam hand raised in a two-finger salute, symbolizing their connection with the band and their fellow fans. Singing along to every word, it was clear that TDCC's music hit home.

With no fake encores built into their set, TDCC built up the energy to their finale with the euphoric "Sun" before ending the night with their standout hit "What You Know."

As the iconic guitar riff rang out, the crowd was cheering louder than they had the whole night. Small groups and individuals broke off and were dancing on the side to the seminal hit. "And I can tell just what you want/You don't want to be alone."

Two Door Cinema Club is a group guaranteed to put on the best show, whether you know all the songs or not, thanks to their fantastic music, enthusiastic crowds, and their stage presence. With over ten years of releasing music, TDCC's popularity continues to soar to greater heights.

Two Door Cinema Club is currently on tour. If you missed them this time around, they've got another tour coming this summer. Grab tickets here
