Yves Tumor Shreds Roadrunner

You’ve heard it countless times in the music scene. “They’re the new David Bowie. Who’s going to be the new Britney?” However, if I had to pinpoint anyone as the latest incarnation of Ziggy Stardust himself, it would be Yves Tumor.

Most shows at the Roadrunner have one or two openers with the show wrapping up at around 10:30. Instead Yves Tumor hosted three distinct acts: indie band Crack Cloud with a saxophone and bongos to boot, Atlanta-born rapper and composer Izzy Spears, and psychedelic art-pop singer Thoom. Tumor themself didn’t even get on stage until 10:18, way past Boston’s bedtime! Unfortunately Boston’s current nightlife is rather tragic compared to The City That Never Sleeps and other metropolitan areas, but that didn’t stop Yves Tumor.

The all-ages crowd was a little smaller than Roadrunner’s average capacity, but a pretty typical turnout for a Thursday night show. The band played their hearts out though, shredding onstage as if they were playing to a sold-out crowd in Fenway Park.

Tumor didn’t cater to their audience either, they played songs from their earliest album to their latest release, Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds). I’m excited to see what they do next and I hope they return to Boston soon.
