The Aces Came to Represent!
This tour was really special to me on a personal level because I absolutely love The Aces and I had been waiting for this for so long, but aside from my personal feelings, this tour was important in that it was an all female tour. The music industry in general is a very male dominated field and it often feels like women are pushed to the sidelines, forced to take different musical paths than desired, and not given the same amount of respect or attention as their male counterparts.
Friendsgiving with TDE
The Driver Era. They were incredible. The set list was pretty long and the band jumped from one song right to the next. All songs were from their last album Girlfriend, but we also got the iconic “Sex on Fire” cover that is just *chefs kiss*.
Baby Carrots and A Shot with Jeremy Zucker
Some notable moments during the show: somebody brought Jeremy a bag of baby carrots. Yes, carrots.
That Time I was a VIP
While each member plays an instrument and has their own space on the stage, frontman Caleb Chapman does a great job of moving around and using the entire stage to his benefit. Going left to right, instead of staying in the center stage, he engaged the crowd and made all parts of the audience feel seen.
Sara Kays, Annie DiRusso @ Mercury Lounge
Kays’ first ep “A House Too Big” was released in 2018 and she has since released two more EPs. “Camera Shy” came out in 2021 and her newest EP “Struck by Lightning” in 2021. She also has a couple of singles including the popular hit “Home For The Summer.” With a strong social media presence, the singer-songwriter has garnered a lot of attention, especially on TikTok. Thanks to her virality, Kays has now amassed over 4 million listeners on Spotify as people feel connected to her songs. On the wide spectrum of pop, Kays sits strongly on the alternative side. A heavy lyrical focus combined with a light acoustic sound has Kays climbing the ladder of alt pop.
