Claire Rosinkranz Returns with “Sad in Hawaii”

SoCal singer Claire Rosinkranz is back with a new single 'Sad In Hawaii'. This is the 19-year-old’s first piece of new material for 2023, and sets the stage for her debut album, set to release later this year.

The melancholic song has an old-school flavor, mixing together surf rock and Rosinkranz’s tendencies toward ‘90s pop to create a cheerful backing that contrasts with vulnerable lyrics that examine feelings of inadequacy.

A vocal sample welcoming listeners to Hawaii opens the song alongside sunny instrumentation. Punchy surf rock guitar lines create an image of laying back on the beach, but in the confessional verses Rosinkranz sings about her mental struggles  "I'm feeling so, so close to the ground / Under the bottom, bottoms up for another round.”

At the chorus, catchy guitars, a repeating bass line, and uptempo percussion blend to create a sun soaked warm energy that juxtaposes Rosinkranz’s feelings of self -worth.  “Probably still rocking my Nikes, but I’ll still be sad in Hawaii.”

"This song is about how everything around you can look so picture perfect, but it's not as flawless as it seems when you're not doing well on the inside. I was in Hawaii when I had an uncomfortable situation happen to me that took a toll on my mental health and made it hard for me to enjoy where I was. Impressive how your brain can ruin an experience that should be paradise," shares Rosinkranz.

Rosinkranz is kicking off her headline tour. Starting in Minneapolis, Rosinkranz is making stops  at New York's Webster Hall on 2/10, Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre on 3/10 and 3/11, and more.
