Everything is Ayokay at Elsewhere

Alex O'Neill, aka Ayokay, is an L.A.-based DJ, producer, and songwriter known for his expressive pop and R&B-influenced EDM.

Starting his music career in high school, Ayokay began producing music with Quinn XCII. The two continued to make music together in college and released “Kings of Summer” in 2016. The song quickly climbed the Billboard charts, scoring the two artists record deals. Continuing to collaborate over the years, Ayokay has released tracks featuring artists like Chelsea Cutler, Nightly, and Jeremy Zucker.

Ayokay brought magic to Elsewhere in Brooklyn this week with his dreamy tracks. Originally meant to be hosted on Elsewhere's rooftop, the show was moved indoors due to the weather. Despite the change in scenery from sunset city views to club lights in a dark room, the audience's positive energy kept it feeling like a breezy summer day.

Kicking off the night with some tracks from his latest album Digital Dreamscape, Ayokay got the crowd going with “Someone Else” and “Amnesia.” Moving into a crowd favorite, Ayokay came out from behind the piano stand to sing “Swing Swing” with the crowd.

Listening to Ayokay’s music feels like getting your life together. Warm, smooth, and uplifting, Ayokay's tracks feel like an idyllic summer evening with friends. A cover of Coldplay's “Clocks” demonstrated his unique sound as he transformed the acoustic song into a warm electronic beat with soft vocals overlaying steady drums.

Explaining that his “music is meant to be listened to at sunset. The point of the tour was to paint that for us.” With the weather keeping us from that blissful summer sunset live accompaniment, Ayokay noted that you could still “feel the love in the room.”

Standing on the stairs, watching a sea of heads sway, jump, and dance to Ayokay, you could feel the love in the room. Playing favorites like “The Shine” and “Sleepless Nights,” Ayokay ended the night with what started everything - “Kings of Summer.”

It was the perfect track to end a summer night with everyone streaming out of the venue feeling like they could conquer the world.
