“SH!TSHOW” is a follow-up to singer-songwriter NERIAH's sophomore EP How Do I Get Clean?

Initially starting out on YouTube by posting covers and vlogs, the LA-based artist has morphed into a fledgling pop star. As of 2022, NERIAH has released a handful of singles and two EPs, a dramatic increase over the previous two years.

“SH!TSHOW” is the latest addition to NERIAH's discography and is a gratifying energetic hit about dating someone who is a hot mess. The singer first teased the song on her TikTok with the caption “this is ur sign to leave their shit show” and the comments flooded with pleas to release the track.

Answering her followers' requests, NERIAH dropped the song last Friday. A melodic guitar starts off the track and plays in the background as NERIAH addresses the subject's red flags. “You said you're on your way but I know you're not.”

Creating an almost vocoder effect, NERIAH multiplies her vocals in the chorus as she sings “baby you're a shit show, and I'm in the front row.” With all of the shitshow's failings, NERIAH establishes that she's “not one of your bitches”. The chorus inspires a cathartic release for anyone who's ever dated a shitshow.

The most compelling driver of the song's message is the vocals. As the lyrics depict a person's misgivings in the verses, the vocals are more timid and restricted. In contrast, the energy and multiplied vocals of the chorus reinforce the exasperation of not being treated correctly.  

Following through on her message of recognizing your worth, NERIAH implores you to realize what you deserve and don't settle for less. In other words, leave the shitshow.

With haunting vocals, NERIAH brings the relationship to an end in the final chorus. “I'm leaving your shitshow, no longer sitting front row.”

NERIAH has accomplished so much this year and it will be exciting to see what lies ahead for her.
