Wallice Opens Up with “Japan”

Indie pop artist Wallice follows up her 2022 EP release ‘90s American Superstar with her new track “Japan”.

Sonically, “Japan” is the perfect mix of Beabadoobee and Phoebe Bridgers-esque tracks.

The introspective song veers away from the previously grunge and alt-rock-styled tracks of the singer-songwriter as Wallice takes a gentler approach with “Japan". An acoustic guitar lays the track's foundation and strings slowly add to the mix. Combined with soft vocals and touching lyrics, Wallice creates a beautiful stunning song that tugs at your heartstrings.

With "Japan" focusing on Wallice's heritage and father, it's only appropriate that a Japanese version is available. "Getting lost in the city that was once my dad's”.

The poignant lyrics are beautiful, touching on familial connections and the brevity of life. “I wish we had more time."

The music video for “Japan” was aptly filmed in Japan with footage of Wallice and the country. Filmed on a Super 8, the hazy glow creates a sense of intimate nostalgia.
